Background: I have been passionate about horses all my life. In 1998 I graduated from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and have dedicated myself to the well-being of our 4-legged family members. Through my veterinary work I also discovered how much I love teaching. When I bought the Fruition Farm property in 2005, I saw that all my dreams of manifesting these passions were “coming to fruition,” hence the name of our beautiful farm.
Teaching Philosophy: My equine program is built on a foundation of positivity, support and trust. I emphasize the importance of understanding the “why” as much as understanding the “how,” enabling lessons to have context and skills to become rooted through detailed and easy to understand explanations.
Expertise: I utilize my farrier and saddle-fitting knowledge in combination with my riding skills, veterinary training and experiences to evaluate horses and riders in a unique and holistic way, both from the ground and under saddle.
The Difference: Dentistry, podiatry, saddle fit, training methods, nutrition and lifestyle are all critical components in creating a healthy and happy horse. Given my broad background, I provide a perspective rarely found in one individual in the equine industry. This makes me uniquely qualified to provide help and services that take the “whole horse concept” to a new level. Additionally, I surround myself with a diverse team of experts (fellow trainers, veterinarians, farriers, saddle fitters and other care providers) to collaboratively problem-solve and create lasting solutions for our equine partners and their people, all in a positive and constructive environment.
